No-cost Energy Assessments for Manufacturers
The Sustainable Manufacturing Alliance for Research and Training Industrial Assessment Center (SMART IAC) is part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Industrial Assessment Program. We provide no-cost energy consulting services to manufacturers focusing on energy, waste, and productivity. Assessments are performed by teams of engineering faculty and students. We typically identify 10-20% in energy and productivity savings.

- Technical assistance is available through the Department of Energy
ITAC CLIENT ELIGIBILITY
- Within 150 miles of UC Irvine or CSUN
- Gross annual sales should not exceed $250 million
- Fewer than 500 employees at the plant site
- Energy bills between $100k and $2.5 million annually
*Requirements may be waived, and exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis.
